Buffalo hunt opportunity
SA Hunters in collaboration with SA Jagter/Hunter offer yet another opportunity for a member to hunt buffalo in the Coutada-11 hunting concession in Mozambique at the end of November 2023. All costs are included. Read here for more information. Tickets cost R100 each, and you can buy as many tickets as you wish.

Hunting of Buffalo cows
The hunting opportunities that SA Hunters offered to hunt 10 buffalo cows have all been taken. Thanks to our members for their support and the landowner for making these opportunities available.
Frequency of magazines
In a previous newsletter it was reported that SA Hunter obtained Media24’s 50% share in SA Hunt Publishing (Pty) Ltd, which means that SA Hunters are again the sole owner and publisher of SA Jagter/Hunter and Magnum.
The frequency of these magazines changed. They are no longer published monthly, but as follows:
SA Jagter/Hunter publishes eight editions as follows: May, June, July, August, September/October, November/December, January/February and March/April.
Magnum has 6 editions as follows: May/June, July/August, September/October, November/December, January/February and March/April.
HuntEx
HuntEx will be held the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 21 to 23 April 2023. Diarise the date, purchase your tickets online and visit SA Hunters’ stand in Hall 2 (stand no 207).
Dedicated status
SA Hunters has approximately 14 100 members with dedicated hunter status and 11 400 members with dedicated sport shooter status. Members that want to maintain their dedicated status must remember to register the required activities on their profile in the online member administration system, or stand to loose the right to own more than 4 firearms, as required by law. Please register your activities on the system.
Shooting affairs
SA Hunters and SAPRF
SA Hunters and SAPRF (SA Precision Rifle Federation – the long range precision shottists) signed an cooperation agreement in which SAPRF made their shooting exercises available to SA Hunters, enabling members to participate in long range shooting disciplines on 300 metre ranges.
The International Precision Rifle Federation’s world championship will be held in South Africa in August 2024. SAPRF’s own championship takes place in July 2023. Members wishing to participate, can contact us for more information.
Sport shooting
The new rules and descriptions of the sport shooting disciplines at regional and national events, were sent to branches and shottists on 5 April 2023.
Conservation
TOPS Species
The Department Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment recently published hew TOPS regulations that include the management plan for elephant and the norms and standards for the hunting of leopard in South Africa
The new regulations were due for implementation on 1 April 2023, but following an urgent court application by WRSA and PHASA to prevent the implementation thereof, it was agreed not to implement the regulations at this stage. More consultation will follow.

Hunting affairs
Shortage of anti-snakebite venom
Johan Marais of the African Snakebite Institute informed us that there is a shortage on anti-snakebite venom. Available antivenom is only available for human use. Take care when handling snakes or coming across snakes while hunting.
Hunting packages
Owners of hunting destinations can advertise in SA Hunters’ accredited hunting destination list. Contact Boetie Kirchner at boetiek@sahunt.co.za. This list is aimed at protecting the interests of hunters and the owners of hunting destinations.

Recruit members and earn commission
SA Hunters has 42 695.
Every member or a branch that recruits ten or more members per year, can earn commission of between R100 to R150 per member. More information is available here.
The Board also agreed that branches that succeed in resigning up lapsed members, will also benefit from the commission. More information has been sent to Branch chairpersons.
SA Hunters distribute member application forms to various dealers. These forms are also available from Dorothy Els by dorothy@sahunt.co.za
Memorial publication
Only copies of the memorial books with the hard covers are still available at R300 per copy.
