Inyathi Park News May 2023

Friday 9 June 2023

Dear colleague

Structure of newsletter

We start with the new, essential information first, followed by the regular news.

Therefore, members can get up to date with fresh news first and read other information later.

This newsletter has been delayed on purpose to share important information that we were waiting for from North West Parks and Tourism Council regarding hunting packages.

  1. Buffalo hunting opportunities

We remind members of the hunting opportunity offered by SA Hunters in collaboration with SA Jagter/Hunter for a member to hunt buffalo in the Coutada-11 hunting concession in Mozambique at the end of November 2023. All costs are included. Read here for more information. Tickets cost R100 each, and you can buy as many tickets as you wish.

Pay R100 or multiples thereof in SA Hunters’ bank account by EFT. The account is with Absa, account number 01443990077; branch code 632005. Use your mobile phone number and Buffalo as reference. Send proof of payment to admin@sahunt.co.za

This hunting opportunity includes:

  • One trophy buffalo bull
  • One trophy waterbuck
  • One trophy reedbuck
  • All travel costs
  • All accommodation in the hunting camp for 7 nights
  • Taxidermy services

  1. Hunting packages in North West

North West Parks and Tourism Board is offering limited opportunities for utilisation and trophy hunts in four of its provincial nature reserves, namely the Bloemhof Dam, Mafikeng, Botsalano and SA Lombard nature reserves.

These packages are available for immediate use. Interested parties are invited to submit tenders for each of these packages by 18 June 2023. The animals must be hunted as soon as possible, but not later than 31 October 2023.  Read here for more information.

Complete and send the Bidding Document to hunting2023@neptb.co.za

The tender document is available here.

  1. Lapua grouping shoot final

The final event in the Lapua grouping shoot will be held on 22 July 2023 at the Sandrivier 58 Branch’s Excalibur shooting range in Welkom. Invitations have been sent to qualifying shottists earlier this week.

  1. President series knives

The Board of SA Hunters agreed to have a series on knives made to commemorate the contribution by former presidents of SA Hunters. Each of the living, former presidents has been asked to give us an example of their preferred knife that will be used to produce this special limited and numbered series.

Members can order these knives at R2500 each. Preference will be given to members that wish to order a specific or favourite numbered knife in each series as part of a unique collection.

The knife choice of Oom Nic van der Merwe is the first in the series that is available in a choice of camel thorn or ivory handle. Each knife comes in a leather sheath. See a photograph of the knife here.

To order, deposit R2 500 per knife in the account of SA Hunters at Absa, account number 01443990077. Use your member number and Nicmes as reference.
