Uitbreek van bek-en-klouseer in die Oos-Kaap
Bek-en-klouseer het vir die eerste keer in die Oos-Kaap uitgebreek. Ons stel jagters in kennis dat sekere beperkende maatreëls in die omgewing van Humansdorp mag geld wat ʼn impak op jagaktiwiteite kan hê. Die Oos-Kaapse provinsiale veeartsenydienste het verskeie gebiede aangrensend aan die besmette area onder kwarantyn geplaas.
Vervoer van karkasse
Jagters mag steeds gaan jag en wildkarkasse vervoer vanaf plase en/of gebiede wat nie tans onder kwarantyn is nie mits hulle die nodige dokumentasie bv. jaglisensies het.
Ons beveel aan dat jagters by die plaaslike staatsveearts se kantoor navraag doen oor beperkings op die plaas of in die omgewing waar hulle wil gaan jag. Ons vra dat jagters verantwoordelik optree om die verspreiding van bek-en-klouseer te voorkom.

The outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Eastern Cape
Foot-and-mouth disease has broken out for the first time in the Eastern Cape. We inform hunters that certain restrictive measures may apply in the area of Humansdorp which may impact hunting activities. The Eastern Cape Provincial Veterinary Services has placed several areas adjacent to the infected area under quarantine.
Transporting of carcasses
Hunters may still go hunt and transport game carcasses from farms and areas not currently under quarantine provided they have the necessary documentation, e.g., hunting licenses.
We recommend that hunters inquire at the local state veterinarian’s office whether there are restrictions on the farm or in the area where they intend to hunt. We ask that hunters act responsibly to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
