MEDIA RELEASE: SA HUNTERS AND GAME CONSERVATION – 10 May 2024
SA Hunters responds to allegations of fraud
Allegations of fraud and other complaints against Captain Karel du Toit, a commander of the SAPS in Springbok, Northern, appeared in the media on Friday, 10 May 2024.
The reports further allege that Capt. Du Toit is Cape a member of the board of the SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SA Hunters) and that the association has benefited from fines paid in previous court cases or plea agreements that defendants may have entered into.
Fred Camphor, Chief Executive Officer of SA Hunters, said the information in these reports is not correct. “Karel du Toit has never been a member of the board of SA Hunters. He is a regular member of the management of the Namakwa Branch in Springbok where he also serves as the conservation coordinator.
“SA Hunters has not benefited from fines paid in previous cases. SA Hunters merely acts as the vehicle to allocate money for conservation initiatives and manage the funds as a trust fund. At this stage, SA Hunters has no further facts about any of the alleged complaints and will not speculate on any actions. The law will simply take its course,” Camphor said.
