Your Hunting Heritage - Our Focus

Actively promoting our responsible hunting heritage in South Africa and neighboring countries for future generations

Hunter’s Guild

The Hunter’s Guild is a special award made by the Extended Board in acknowledgement to a paid-up member for his/her exceptional status as an outstanding hunter and a member with unquestionable integrity in the Association and among the hunting fraternity. Nominees are usually persons whose conduct, experience, knowledge and skills about hunting distinguish them as icons that embody the essential values of The Hunt. Furthermore, this is ideally a highly competent and responsible hunter with an impeccable record and reputation.

Award criteria:

  • This is a once-off award and motivations must address the following aspects:
  • A long-standing member of SAHGCA with detailed description of involvement at branch, regional and national level (only circumstantial and not qualifying);
  • Knowledge and skills about The Hunt (excel in specialist hunting skills and the ability to transfer knowledge); Scope of hunting experience in various habitats, species and hunting methods;
  • Hunting training experience and generosity to share knowledge and teach skills to fellow hunters;
  • Involvement in various levels in the hunting sector;
  • Appropriate hunting achievements and recipient of previous hunting and conservation awards;
  • Membership of other hunting groups and organisations and/or conservation bodies and a recipient of relevant awards;
  • A person of high standing that features prominently in hunting circles and whose conduct has singled him/her out as a respectable hunting mentor.
  • The motivation for this award must include a portfolio of evidence to highlight the various aspects and to demonstrate that the nominee meets the required criteria.
  • Any paid-up member may be nominated for this award by any three (3) paid-up members. The branch chairperson of the nominee must second the nomination.
  • A typed, factual motivation that approved meets the criteria described above, with suitable examples to support the motivation supported by the branch chairman and the nominee, must be submitted for consideration.

 

Format of Award:

  • A special illuminated address, pocket badge to fit the green SAHGCA blazer and a gold pin are bestowed on a recipient during the Congress every year. The award is made by the Extended Board
