Purpose

The Tinyarhi Trust is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) – No 930072003 in terms of Section 18A(1)(a) of the Income Tax Act.  The purpose of the Trust is to safeguard a wildlife legacy that provides societal and financial benefits for current and future generations through strategic support for wildlife conservation, a sustainable wildlife economy, responsible wildlife utilisation and fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship in people towards our wildlife heritage, with emphasis on the persistence of extensive wildlife areas, promotion of responsible decision-making and an inclusive wildlife economy.

Objectives

  • Engage in in-situ wildlife conservation, protection and restoration programmes and projects in support of the persistence of our wildlife heritage and extensive wildlife areas
  • Engage in developing an inclusive wildlife economy through responsible programmes and practices that delivers sustainable societal and financial benefits for current and future generations
  • Develop and engage in training and empowerment programmes and projects that promotes equitable participation and community involvement in wildlife conservation and the wildlife economy
  • Foster improved understanding, public awareness and social responsibility towards conservation and responsible wildlife use
  • Conduct and support wildlife related research and development activities that foster responsible decision-making in wildlife conservation, utilisation and sustainable development
  • Caring for wildlife, including the rehabilitation or prevention of the ill-treatment of wild animals
