Hunters supports Environment Month
SAHGCA fully supports initiatives from the public, private and NGO sectors towards creating a green economy. The theme for the 2012 International Environment Month is: Green Economy: Does it include you? In 1972 the United Nations declared June 5 World Environment Day to create, educate and raise awareness on environmental conservation.

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) defines the Green Economy as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.
SAHGCA subscribes to the policies and conventions of UNEP and has adopted its principles of sustainable development as part of its own Conservation Charter, namely, “…development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
“International Environment Month reminds us to reflect on our role as custodians of the environment and how our choices affect the world around us. Therefore, through our actions, we all play a role in supporting a green economy,” said Dr Herman Els, SAHGCA’s Manager, Hunting and Conservation.
