SAHGCA Newsletters (59)

SAJWV Nuusbriewe

09 May 2017

It is already 4 April 2017 and I deliberately delayed the monthly newsletter to report back on the National Branch Chairman’s Forum held at Nyathi Park on Saturday 1 April. We had 64 Branch chairpersons and all regional co-ordinators present for a meaningful meeting. News about the decisions taken have most probably reached the branches already. Therefore, I will not dwell on these in detail.

At the start of 2017, there were reports of good rain in certain parts of the country while serious drought is still ravaging other areas such as the Eastern Cape and Karoo. Our hearts go out to farmers and members in these areas. We trust that good rain will come your way.

At the time of writing this newsletter we have 3 days left of the current hunting season. By the time you receive this message the formal hunting season will be something of the past. I trust that those of you that had the opportunity to hunt, have been successful and responsible. For those of us who have not had that privilege during this year's hunting season, there is always next year to get away to hunt at least once.

Geagte Kollega,

Dear Colleague,

The 2016 hunting season is well on its way. The number of calls and queries received at the office has dwindled considerably. Clearly the majority of our members' attention is with hunting. We appeal to members to leave the hunting farm in the same condition as what they would like to find it at their arrival.

I have had the opportunity to visit a part of Limpopo province and it is clear the impact of the drought is much more severe than one might have estimated. Please keep this in mind when you are hunting in the dry areas and be extremely careful with fires that might create havoc in such a dry season.
